|Hey Mom, where's my Bifido Infantis?|
Accidentally!!! We have almost wiped out the most important, useful bacterium to keep infants' microbiome in a benign state by crowding out many many bad bacteria, the ones that can mess with our systems and make us susceptible to all these ailments that are cleaning our clock these days.
The New York Times carried a fine piece with most of this complex story cleanly and simply told. It's a fascinating story with HUGE implications.
|I'm not much to look at, but can I ever improve your life.|
The research finds much evidence that the presence of B. infantis for the first year or two of life will help prevent colic, allergies, asthma, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancers later in life. What's not to like about that?
This is a purely private "plug" and referral. No money or other benefits were received by moi. I've been a microbiome research follower for a couple years while writing the book of short stories Gut 4.0, soon to be published.
This is Big News for a Microbiome Nut (me).
